combine dry ingredients in separate bowl : flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Best to sift as or before adding to batter.
combine wet ingredients in large mixing bowl : sugar, oil, eggs (beaten lightly first), vanilla extract. mix.
add sour cream to wet mixture. beat well all wet ingredients.
added sifted flour mixture and water one third of each at a time. alternate dry and water until all incorporated.
scape sides of bowl and ensure bottom of mixture is all mixed in together.
pour completed batter into a greased pan - 9x13 or two 8-9 inch rounds or 24 cupcakes
bake at 350° for 25-28 minutes. check that inserted toothpick come out clean and cake bounces back with you press with finger. cake will smell with rich dark chocolate.
remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
