The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt is oldest and last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built 4,500 years ago. The great pyramids are perhaps the most famous and discussed structures in history. These massive monuments were unsurpassed (held the record) in height for thousands of years after their construction and continue to amaze and enthrall us with their overwhelming mass and seemingly impossible perfection.

Lighthouse of Alexandria, also in Egypt, is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the most famous lighthouse in antiquity (ancient past). It was a technological triumph and is the archetype (an original example that has been imitated) of all lighthouses since. The lighthouse was constructed in the 3rd century BC. After Alexander the Great died.
Built between 300 – 280 BCE and was 330 ft tall, making it the one of the tallest man-made structures in the world for many centuries. The light was produced by a furnace at the top, and the tower was said to have been built mostly with solid blocks of limestone. Unfortunately, the lighthouse was severely damaged by three earthquakes between AD 956 and 1323 and became an abandoned ruin. It was the third longest surviving ancient wonder, surviving in part until 1480, when the last of its remnant stones were used to build the Citadel of Qaitbay on the site.
